2026 | Freddie at the House of Music Hungary | Budapest

Freddie Mercury. The human behind the legend.

„The exhibition’s greatest technical achievement… is the narration.“
— Funzine Budapest

To appreciate the unique quality of the storytelling, it is worth taking a look at this venue. The House of Music Hungary, designed by Sou Fujimoto, was conceived as a fluid experiential space. Architecture, nature and music blend together. There are no conventional paths, no linear visitor route – the building itself follows the thought of a musical composition.

The idea is to blend the intuitive experience of the space with the exhibition – and thereby, to get up close and personal with the person Freddie Mercury.

With 200 usomo systems, visitors experience Freddie Mercury’s story on a personalised journey through nine themed rooms – from his greatest concerts to his most private moments. Peter Freestone, Freddie Mercury’s personal assistant for more than ten years, guides them through the exhibition with personal memories in audio and video form. Depending on the routes that visitors intuitively choose through the exhibition, their personal experiences vary.

“Sometimes I danced, sometimes I smiled, and yes, sometimes I cried.”
— writes a visitor on her social media profile.
