The premiere of the usomo audio system at the Ars Electronica Festival was excellent!
We had about 5000 visitors in our installation, and all of them were thrilled by this novel sound experience. Many queued in long lines or returned several times. To watch the visitors in the installation and to see with which joy and fascination they played with the sounds or just let the unexpected experience sink in, totally swept us off our feet. It works! And word was spread since many came on recommendation of others. Many thanks to all who took the time to experience usomo!
A small selection of visitor’s voices:
“Sonic Wildness is my favorite exhibition of the entire Ars Electronica!”
“This installation made me understand how media art is usable practically.
“To me, this is more impressive than visuality.”
“I loved it, this is incredible…. you can really design a space with it in an exciting way.”
And Gerfried Stocker, artistic director of Ars Electronica, said:
“It is simply excellent… in my opinion, a real highlight of the festival.”
At the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, usomo realised a sound installation together with the sound artist Antye Greie-Ripatti aka AGF and the spatial designer Marc Osswald. Sonic Wildness was an immersive and interactive installation that blended natural and electronic sounds. A complex soundscape, which – fully in accordance with the usomo principle – was being generated and steered in real time simply by free movement in the space. The soundscape was unique for everyone and enabled complete submergence into the Sonic Wildness.
